Project Details
Child Empowerment (CE) is a project which is supported by a donor Liliane Foundation (LF) from Netherland via KCBRP (Karagwe Community Based Rehabilitation Programme as our Strategic Partner from Karagwe Kagera Tanzania. The Liliane Foundation and KCBRP offers Direct Child Assistance for children with disabilities at our SMD organization. This assistance fits well with the principle Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR). The project deals on the focus areas of Health, Education, Inclusion/Social, Livelihood and Economic Empowerment. At the focus area of HEALTH about Child Development under these deal assistive devices such as hearing aids, crutches and wheel chairs.
Therapies these deals on physiotherapy, speech and occupational therapy. Transport this deals on fare to and from hospital. Other service supported is medication, referral and operation costs.
The project also deals on Health Enabling environment, infrastructure related to healthcare, training related to healthcare, awareness raising related to healthcare.
At the focus area of EDUCATION about Child Development we deal with the activities of pre-school or early education, Primary school for special needs education at inclusive school and intergraded school.
The project deals also Education-Enabling environment with the activities of infrastructure related to Education with specific indicator of building, renovation, adjustments, equipment, means of transport. Training and awareness raising related to education with youngsters and parents. Also, advocacy and lobby at institutions related to policy on education with the hamlet, village, ward, district leaders, regional and national level.
At the focus area of INCLUSION/SOCIAL about Child Development, the project deal with the activities of home visiting/counselling, participation in self-help groups, culture and arts, recreation leisure and sports these activities based to children of disabilities, parents and others.
Another focus area is LIVELIHOOD, we support children with disability who become mature out of the primary school ages. They join vocational education training for those who are aware and interested for vocational studies such as tailoring, carpentry, masonry etc.
The focus area of ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT, the project deal by communicating with parents and communities by gathering and taught awareness raising related to economic empowerment on how to support and care children and their needs.
